As part of health awareness efforts to promote nutritional knowledge, and within the awareness programs organized by the hospital's Pediatrics Department to spread health education and strengthen self-care skills among patients and their families, an educational workshop on "Carbohydrate Counting for Children with Type 1 Diabetes" was held this morning in the Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahwal Hall in the Pediatrics Department. It was organized by the department's Technology Therapy Unit as part of its efforts to raise health awareness and enable parents to manage the disease as well as possible.

The workshop, supervised by a number of the department's specialists and attended by specialists, doctors, and a number of children and their families, focused on the correct methods of counting carbohydrates in daily meals and matching them to insulin doses.

It also covered how to read food labels and determine portion sizes accurately, with practical examples from daily life.

The workshop saw notable engagement from those attending.

The workshop is part of health awareness, education and regular medical follow-up, which play an essential role in improving the quality of life of children with diabetes and reducing complications of the disease.
