The specialized kidney transplant team of the Arab Group for Kidney Transplantation arrived in Sirte from Jordan this Thursday evening, to launch the third phase of kidney transplant operations tomorrow, Friday.
The program has the direct support of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, to comfort patients who have endured years of dialysis and bring new hope into their lives, and is sponsored by the National Development Agency and Al-Sada Libya Company.
The team was received at Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital by the Director General, Dr. Ali Eljarroshi; Dr. Omran Bourgiga, chair of the Permanent Kidney Transplant Committee; Dr. Fathi Al-Kaseh, chair of the Scientific Committee; Dr. Mohammed Ashqaq, head of the Nephrology Department; and a number of the hospital's specialists.
The first phase of the hospital's kidney transplant program was carried out in early September for four patients, and the second phase in October for a number of patients, all of them successful by God's grace.
The visit is part of a series of medical programs supported by the General Command of the Armed Forces to bring treatment home and expand advanced health services in Libyan cities.
