With the direct support of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, to ensure the continuation of the kidney transplant program,
a consultative meeting was held at midday today in the meeting room of the Director General's office, bringing together the Director General, Dr. Ali Eljarroshi; the Deputy Director, Dr. Jadallah Diryag; Dr. Omran Bourgiga, chair of the Permanent Kidney Transplant Committee; the heads of the Nephrology and Intensive Care departments; and a number of medical staff. The meeting discussed the arrangements for resuming kidney transplant operations early next week, with five transplants planned once all medical tests are complete.
Last month, with the direct support of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte performed three kidney transplants with a specialized team from the Arab Group for Kidney Transplantation from Jordan, together with the hospital's Urology and Operating Theatre teams. All were successful, by God's grace — the first such operations in the Central Region. This reflects the commitment of the young management and national medical staff to continuing their humanitarian work and bringing hope to patients with kidney failure. It is a national achievement that eases patients' suffering, spares them the hardship of travelling abroad for treatment, marks a major success in bringing advanced health services home, and strengthens patients' confidence in national medical staff capable of performing such delicate operations with a high level of success and professionalism.
