By the grace of God, with the direct support of Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar and the generous sponsorship of the National Development Agency and Al-Sada Libya Company, the kidney transplant operations performed over two consecutive days early this week concluded this morning with a ceremony in the late Dr. Abdulqader Al-Ammari Hall. All cases were successful — an unprecedented medical achievement in Sirte, written in letters of light, perhaps in gold, in the record of this long-established institution.
The Director General, Dr. Ali Khalifa Eljarroshi, praised the first and principal supporter of the initiative, the General Command represented by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, for his great and continuing support, and thanked the National Development Agency and the sponsoring companies.
The head of the visiting Jordanian team, consultant Dr. Issa Kawalit, expressed his happiness at the generous hospitality of the people of Sirte, said he was very proud to have taken part in these operations, and praised the high skill and professionalism of the medical staff in the hospital's surgical departments.
The father of one of the dialysis patients who received a successful kidney transplant thanked the Deputy Commander-in-Chief for his support for the health sector in Sirte and expressed his indescribable happiness and deep gratitude to everyone who helped care for his son and restored hope to his family.
The operations were performed under strict sterility, in an environment meeting the highest standards of quality and infection control, by specialists of the Arab Group for Kidney Transplantation from Jordan, with the active participation of the medical staff of the Urology, Nephrology, Intensive Care and main operating departments — a humanitarian medical achievement that paves the way for the hospital to perform this type of surgery itself once accredited.
Over two consecutive days, our medical staff in the theatres proved that this was not just a series of operations but bridges of life between doctors, patients, their donor relatives and those in desperate need of a new ray of hope.
At the close of the ceremony, the visiting team from Jordan was honored for their efforts and the expertise they shared, as were the national medical staff who played a central role, led by consultant Dr. Al-Refai Amtair; the chair of the hospital's Permanent Kidney Transplant Committee, Dr. Omran Bourgiga; the head of Intensive Care and Anesthesia, Dr. Abdel Moneim Al-Mabsout; and the head of Nephrology, Dr. Mohammed Ashqaq, together with staff from the Operating Theatres, Intensive Care and Anesthesia, Nephrology and Urology departments, and the hospital's IT and media departments.
Our thanks and appreciation to the General Command and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, to the medical staff from Jordan and the hospital's surgical departments, to the young and ambitious management, to the National Development Agency and Al-Sada Libya Company, and to everyone who helped write this important chapter and historic achievement in the record of this long-established institution.
