The Dermatology Department of Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in Sirte marked World Vitiligo Day in cooperation with the Libyan Society of Dermatology, Aesthetics and Laser Therapy and the Zahrat Al-Iklil and Al-Hanaa pharmaceutical import companies, under the slogan "Together in Support of Vitiligo Patients", in the late Dr. Abdulqader Al-Ammari Hall.

The first speech was given by the hospital's Director General, Dr. Ali Khalifa Eljarroshi, who welcomed the specialists, doctors, staff, patients and their families, saying the day is an opportunity to shed light on vitiligo, which affects millions of people worldwide.

The chair of the hospital's Scientific Committee, Dr. Fathi Al-Kaseh, explained that the main purpose of the day is to spread accurate awareness about vitiligo and dispel the misconceptions and rumours that may surround it.

The deputy chair of the Libyan Society of Dermatology, Aesthetics and Laser Therapy, Dr. Abdelmajid Aqsis, stressed support for vitiligo patients, emphasizing that the disease is not contagious and that people with it need understanding and support from society rather than discrimination or negative attitudes.

Dr. Jamal Al-Hindi, head of dermatology at Zliten Medical Center, spoke about religious guidance concerning the disease, encouraging prayer and seeking God's help through legitimate means, and noting that Islam cares for the health of the individual and society and seeks to serve the common good and remove harm.

The event included awareness lectures and scientific sessions on vitiligo, with international contributions from specialists and doctors via Zoom, followed by an open discussion to answer the audience's questions and provide medical advice.

All support and success to those who organize these scientific events, which aim to provide the best health services and awareness to the community in general and Sirte in particular.
